Pediatric Imaging

Toshiba understands children are not just small adults. Toshiba is improving pediatric patient safety by developing technology to make pediatric exams faster, safer and more comfortable:

  • The Aquilion ONE CT system is designed with unique features to make pediatric imaging safer and more comfortable. It offers the ability to “child size” exams using SUREExposure™ Pediatric software, which automatically takes inputs on the size and age of each patient and tailors the radiation dose to achieve the best and safest image quality for each exam. Additionally, its rapid acquisition time (0.35 secs) exposes patients to less radiation and is so fast, sedation is not always needed.
  • Toshiba’s cardiac hybrid cath labs allow physicians to perform minimally invasive interventional surgery on newborns to adults with heart conditions or congenital issues.
  • Toshiba’s ultrasound systems include small probes for comfortable imaging of small bodies.
  • Toshiba’s MR systems offer Pianissimo™ technology to reduce noise by up to 90 percent, making the exam quieter, more comfortable and less frightening for children.
  • With the AHRA, Toshiba funds the “Putting Patients First” grant program to improve patient safety in pediatric imaging.
  • Reducing the need for sedation is safer for pediatric patients and Toshiba’s technology limits that need.
    • The Aquilion ONE’s fast exam time (0.35 secs) means sedation is not always needed.
    • For MR imaging, claustrophobia is a significant issue and some pediatric patients must be sedated to undergo the exam. The Vantage Titan™ MR large open bore system with Pianissimo has less noise and more space, helping claustrophobic patients relax, reducing their need for sedation.
