Patient Comfort

Toshiba is committed to developing technology that makes exams more comfortable for the patient, improving the exam experience and increasing image quality for improved diagnoses.

  • Toshiba’s MR systems include features specifically designed to improve patient comfort, including:
    • Pianissimo technology to reduce noise by up to 90 percent during MR exams, making the exam quieter and more comfortable.
    • A short, open bore that provides a feeling of openness and reduces claustrophobia. – Atlas® integrated coil technology that reduces the need to reposition patients during an exam.
  • Toshiba’s X-ray systems provide automated features that reduce exam time and minimize the need to post process images during an exam.
    • Toshiba’s RADREX™-i enhances workflow with the RexView, a color LCD screen located on the overhead tube crane (OTC) that allows technologists to have immediate access to review the images and determine at point of care to reject or accept.
  • Toshiba’s cardiac hybrid cath labs are designed to allow clinical teams to perform minimally invasive interventional surgery on all patients.
  • Toshiba’s portable ultrasound systems provide advanced capabilities in a portable system, allowing patients to receive high-quality exams at bedside.
    • Toshiba’s Viamo™ ultrasound system offers advanced radiology capabilities in a portable laptop size.
  • Toshiba’s CT systems reduce overall exam time and help physicians provide a quick diagnosis in emergency situations.
    • The rapid acquisition time of the Aquilion ONE (0.35 secs), shortens exam time and reduces the time patients need to lie still.
    • For pediatric imaging, Toshiba’s Aquilion ONE comes with a smaller replica of the Aquilion ONE, allowing children to interact with the CT to understand more about the imaging process and alleviate fear about the exam.
  • Patients with sensitivities to medical imaging require equipment specifically tailored to address their health limitations. For example, imaging can be difficult for diabetic, obese or claustrophobic patients.
    • Toshiba’s proprietary advanced non-contrast imaging techniques for MRA exams allow for the safe imaging of diabetics or patients with kidney conditions.
    • Toshiba’s patient-friendly MR features such as its large bore, feet first imaging and noise reduction technology provide a better exam experience for claustrophobic patients.
    • Products across the entire Toshiba line have numerous features to facilitate more comfortable and better imaging of obese patients, including large bore MR; higher table weights for MR, CT, X-ray and X-ray Vascular; and Ultrasound software features for better penetration and higher image quality.
    • Toshiba’s portable ultrasound systems like the Viamo offer advanced non-invasive radiology at bedside for sick patients.
